Audience
Academia’s EPCIS RVD is ideal for any individual who is working on an RFID project and wants an understanding of standards and best practices for representing and using the visibility data generated through use of RFID. This course is also ideal for any individual who is responsible for defining enterprise architecture for RFID systems, or responsible for evaluating, purchasing, or using commercial RFID “middleware” software.

Course Description
EPCIS RVD gives an in-depth tutorial on a standards-based approach for harnessing business level visibility information. The EPC Information Services (EPCIS) standard provides the standard way to represent “what, when, where, and why” visibility information that applications need to make use of RFID data. It is also the standard way the trading partners share information for total supply chain visibility. As this information is at the heart of every RFID-based business application, EPCIS is the backbone of a standards-based software architecture for RFID – even for projects that are within four walls or that do not use EPC identifiers. A working knowledge of EPCIS is indispensable for any organization that seeks to use RFID to know where assets are, within your own four walls or across the supply chain.

What you will learn :

  • Best practice software architecture for RFID-based applications
  • Overview of EPCglobal standards and how they fit into the architecture
  • An in-depth introduction to the EPC Information Services (EPCIS) standard: creating and harnessing visibility data within the enterprise and with trading partners
  • How to model visibility of business processes using EPCIS
  • How to design an enterprise architecture for harnessing visibility data across multiple applications and business units

  • Key company personnel responsible for vendor evaluation and selection of RFID infrastructure and application software
